School Hours

8:00am-2:23pm (M,W,Th,F)        8:00am-1:23pm(T)

Please be on time!!!!

• Gates open at 7:30am in the morning and 2:23pm (M,W,Th,F) and 1:23pm (T) in the afternoon.
• Children not picked up within 10 minutes of dismissal are taken to the office, where they must be signed out by an adult.
• Child care is offered on campus by the YMCA (818)368-3231. YMCA will drop off/pick up students at their classroom.  Children must be 4 years and 9 months.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

• For safety reasons children are to be dropped off at the UTK gate on Germain St. and picked up at the gate on Germain St. (Room K1) and Lurline St. (Room K2)
• Children are not allowed to play on the play structure before or after school.
• All children must be dropped off and picked up by an adult.

Clothing

• Please label all clothing and backpacks.
• Wear comfortable play shoes. Students are not allowed to wear slip-ons, open toed shoes, or heels. 
• Wear appropriate clothing for the weather that you do not mind getting dirty.
• Please make sure shorts are worn under dresses.

Meals

• Students will eat snack at 9:50 am and lunch at 12:00pm.
• Lunch can be brought from home or students can eat lunch from the cafeteria.

Homework

• Will be discussed at Back to School Night.

Birthdays (Optional)

• Send individual treats and napkins for 24 students.
• Please notify me ahead of time to plan accordingly.

Absences

• Your child MUST have a signed note with a reason for the absence. District policy mandates that children that are even 1 minute late are marked tardy.

Welcome to UTK/CC

Welcome to Germain Academy for Academic Achievement.  Our names are Mrs. Carrillo and Mrs. Yoho.  We will be your child’s teachers and are very excited to be piloting this new program, UTK/CC. Together we can make your child's first school experience fun and successful.

Curriculum, materials, programs and grade level expectations will be discussed on Back to School Night on September 1st from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK)/Collaborative Classroom (CC) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program. It follows the requirements of SB 1381 in providing a modified kindergarten curriculum that is both age and developmentally appropriate. Emphasis is placed on developing oral language skills and providing integrated experiences in language and literacy, social-emotional development, mathematics, physical development, the arts, science, social sciences, social studies, and English Language Development. (See REF-12350 for more information regarding UTK/CC program)

This year we will be using the website/app ClassDojo to communicate. You are able to message us directly through the app as well as see updates on your students. We will be sending you an invitation to your email on file at school.
